Traditionally, the health of a community was reflected in its environment and vice versa. Trees add character to the landscape and provide variety and beauty. However, trees may affect neighbouring properties or accessibility, or simply obstruct views. It is best to consult with people that might be affected by changes before issues arise. Planting trees also presents an opportunity to source seedlings locally, create employment and build skills in your community.

He aha te mea nui o te ao, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata.

Who will potentially be affected by your new trees? How do I engage with them? What local nurervies are in my area? How can I get my community involved in planting or maintaing trees?
